Georgian Bluffs CAT
Climate Action is Growing in Georgian Bluffs
Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team (GBCAT) is a grassroots group of neighbours, meeting monthly (online during the pandemic) since Dec 2019. We are a diverse group of volunteers made up of residents of Georgian Bluffs and its close proximity that are concerned about the impact of climate change and are committed to positive action.
When the release of Georgian Bluffs' Strategic Plan in 2019 contained a section on “environmental leadership” it was seen as an invitation to discuss specific outcomes and targets.

Mission Statement
Working within Georgian Bluffs to raise public awareness about climate change, mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions using “The Georgian Bluffs Advantage” and adoption of adaptation strategies.
The Georgian Bluffs Advantage:
Regeneration & protection of "carbon sinks" such as wetlands, forests, and healthy soil. These are the most effective efforts we can make as residents of Georgian Bluffs in order to make a positive impact on the climate crisis. If we can help family farms thrive and become more climate-resilient in the process, if we can promote the value of wetlands & forests and how they capture our emissions, and if we can link with other rural townships regionally, Georgian Bluffs can make a difference and contribute to regeneration of the earth.
